Trees

For the longest time trees have been a primary study, and favorite subject to portray.  I have developed a great interest in growth of differing species, the root systems, and the varying essence of the tree.  I have found intrique in how differing species develop, and an infatuation about how they add to our fading environment, supporting our air by trading oxygen for carbon dioxide.

I give great respect to the trees that have nurtured and nourished me, the trees I climbed as a child, the trees that shaded me from the burning sun, the trees that my children now use to support their swings.

I spend time drawing from the different qualities and strengths that the varying species present, and paint them in a certain religiosity to preserve their sanctity in the shrinking forest of our time. Trees handle portraiture quite well, as they can sit for such a long period of time.
